PDP... Our Home, Our Pride.

PDP... Our Home, Our Pride.

PDP... Our Home, Our Pride.

In 1999 when Nigerians were yearning for true democracy,

After a long period of militarian autocracy,

Characterized with an obvious display of administrative incompetency,

With series of bad polices,

And a lot of fake promises..

The Peoples Democratic Party came to our rescue.

The PDP provided a platform for the majority but not the few.

With it's mantra of power to the people,

The party rejuvenated our hope that used to be miserable.

Although the June 12 1993 election had threatened our tribal unity,

When the persecution of MKO provoked a political uncertainty.

But the PDP restored it with a Presidential ticket to Obasanjo.

Baba was a condemned political prisoner under the government of Abacha,

Whereas the PDP recognized OBJ's selflessness in 1983,

When  he allowed a smooth transition of power to Shagari .

The Obasanjo's administration contributed it's quota,

As it tackled poverty and hunger,

It also improved on infrastructures and power.

Meanwhile it tackled insecurity in the Niger-Delta.

In fighting corruption, Obasanjo established the EFCC,

He also contributed tremendously to the growth of ICT.

All these he did in line with the blue prints of his great party ;

The Peoples Democratic Party.

After two busy terms in office,

When Nigerians were pleased with the party policies,

Even as the likes of Muhammadu Buhari tried to force himself on Nigerians,

In 2007, they voted for Umar Musa Yar'adua.

The late Musa therefore became the first Nigerian president to declare his asset.

He also beat down the price of oil.

And even as his health limited his performance,

President Musa never compromised

Until when he had his last breath in 2010,

He was  indeed a rare gem.

Constitutionally as the Vice President,

Nigerians urshered in the reign of Good luck Jonathan.

And after a successful completion of his boss's tenure,

He earned the party's automatic ticket for a job well-done.

So that on the 29th of may 2011,

He was sworn in as Nigeria's President.

After defeating the stubborn Muhammadu Buhari...

In a free and fair poll.

Yet despite his international influence and selfless services,

Jonathan refused to use his power of incumbency in the 2015 general elections.

He ensured a free and fair election,

Thus allowing and conceding defeat to the pitiful General.

Alas the 2015 election was a robbery.

Some unpopular political parties connived,

Then formed a deceitful alliance

That has till date, been robbing us of our entitlements.

The APC now realized that Nigerians are tired of their negative change,

They immediately adopted a new mantra of robbery :

They adopted progress.

Do we still need a progress in economic downturn ?

A progress in insecurity ?

A progress in witch-hunting ?

A progress in poverty ?

A progress in killings ?

A progress in lies and empty promises ?

Until the people snatch their power back in 2019, the APC government does not mean well for Nigerians. And the gale of defection accross the Country back to the PDP is enough as a signal.

Let us hope that the APC government will be courageous enough to emulate the spirit of sportsmanship being displayed by the PDP, when the latter preserved our democracy in 2015, by conceding defeat and shunning litigation.
